Have you been told that running is bad for you? Or, "You're getting older, you might want to try something else..." Or have you tried resting but only flared your injury when you tried to get back into your routine(Because resting didn't get at why you hurt in the first place).
Have you tried any number of stretches from YouTube, muscle rubs, copper braces, orthotics, or ever more expensive shoes?
Many times, training injuries or flare ups are caused by poor movement elsewhere and that your knees, back, or shoulder are the innocent victims. Maybe the dreaded "pronation" won't be fixed by any number of expensive shoes or inserts and is really coming from your hip. Or maybe your shoulder pain is coming from your spine.
